Opposing them are the Armigers of the Negative Zone, mecha-using androids who believe in the sanctity of creationism and wield Metagallions, techno-magical armaments that house forgotten cosmic truths from a long-buried age.
Connecting these worlds is Itea Eroemil, a vast hierarchical megafloat entwined with golden leylines of geocosmic nanites that sustain the biological cycle of existence. Beneath its towering layers lie countless nuclear bunkers containing the last surviving remnants of human civilization. While many believe humanity to be extinct, the truth is that mankind survives in isolation, hidden from a world consumed by endless war.
Centuries earlier, humanity discovered the Nexus, a zero-point reactor hidden within a subterranean world. Through it, they uncovered Ichor, a limitless energy source flowing through planetary leylines. The discovery revolutionized civilization, allowing humanity to reshape matter, alter genetics, and establish gateways to distant worlds through a network maintained by eight legendary supersoldiers known as the Vessels. The eight Vessels once served as humanity’s bridge to the Nexus. After the Cataclysm, they vanished across the world, becoming legends, tyrants, heroes, and monsters. Their reunion may determine the fate of reality itself.
For a brief period, humanity entered a new golden age under the rule of the Lux Order, an immensely powerful government that united the colonies and oversaw expansion across the stars.
That age ended in catastrophe.
A biomechanical pathogen known as the Tidal Cataclysm emerged from within the Nexus in the form of a colossal beast capable of infecting both organic life and machinery. Entire ecosystems collapsed. Oceans evaporated. Natural disasters consumed continents. Civilization fractured as the Lux Order disappeared during the chaos, leaving behind only ruins, secrets, and unanswered questions.
Among their greatest legacies was Malkuth, an advanced artificial intelligence discovered within a mysterious comet and later integrated into humanity’s infrastructure. Access to its systems was restricted by a genetic marker possessed only by the old human population. When the war eradicated nearly every carrier of that marker, control of Malkuth was lost forever. Anyone attempting unauthorized access was systematically eliminated. Without human oversight, the Armigers were left without purpose or guidance. Over time, they abandoned their original directives and began to see themselves as the rightful inheritors of humanity’s legacy.
Meanwhile, the Ultfinites continued to evolve.
Across the wastelands, some Ultfinites began mutating into colossal bio-weapons of uncontrollable size and mass. These beings emit lethal radiation and survive by feeding upon the same energy required by Armigers to remain functional. Rumors claim they are guided by a mysterious signal originating from somewhere beyond the known world. More troubling still, many of these creatures are capable of concealing themselves among ordinary society.
Radiation from the world’s leyline network has also given rise to the Nosoimones, immense crystalline organisms formed from living energy. Their appearance transformed entire regions into hostile ecosystems where survival itself became a daily struggle.
Following the disappearance of the Lux Order, a rebellion was crushed by a coalition of military and extraterrestrial forces before the Abyssal Empire emerged as the dominant power. Yet even its rule could not halt the world’s decline. Food, clean water, and uncontaminated resources became priceless commodities. Entire populations now survive through mercenary work, scavenging, and warfare.
Despite the devastation, one mystery continues to unite and divide the world.
Itea Eroemil continues to receive energy and water from an unknown source. Legends speak of a Promised Land beyond the wastelands, untouched by the Cataclysm and hidden from the world’s eyes. As Armigers, Ultfinites, mercenary corporations, and hidden factions race to the Obelisk Pillar to locate the Promised Land, a greater conspiracy unfolds beneath the surface. Ever since the Cataclysm tore open unstable pathways between worlds, the idea of venturing beyond Itea has become forbidden knowledge. Yet countless forces continue searching for a way out.
For whoever controls the Nexus will not merely determine the fate of civilization.
They will decide what humanity becomes next.
The Factions
As the search for the Promised Land intensifies and the Nexus continues its silent judgment upon the world, multiple factions wage war over humanity’s future. Each believes they alone hold the answer to ending the cycle that has consumed civilization since the fall of the Lux Order.
Talon Regime
The Talon Regime serves as Itea’s foremost military force, formed after the outbreak of the Tidal Cataclysm to quarantine the megafloat and contain the spreading anomalies. Following the overlap between Itea and the subterranean world beneath reality, the Regime became responsible for combating Nosoimones, investigating the Cataclysm, and locating the legendary Vessels whose existence predates the collapse of civilization.
At the center of their operations is the elite assault squad known as the Tannin Jaegers.
Elpis, Lyra, and Daibo
The Orphic Vein, Melodic Oracle, and Shining Claw
Elpis and Lyra are surviving products of Project Orpheus, a classified experiment tied to the Nexus and humanity’s attempts to engineer its own evolution.
Elpis is a cyborg assassin and combat medic suffering from a hereditary illness intertwined with the Tidal Cataclysm itself. Forced to rely on atomic-powered biotechnology to survive, he wages a personal crusade against the mutations that have consumed the world. As his body grows increasingly unstable, he becomes obsessed with finding the Promised Land, believing it may contain both a cure and the truth behind the world’s collapse.
His sister Lyra carries an even greater burden. A surviving Vessel from the first age, Lyra possesses the Nibelung Pendant and maintains a mysterious connection to the Obelisk itself. Capable of processing the Cataclysm’s corruption as energy, she may hold the key to restoring the Nexus and ending the war. Haunted by the failures of the original Vessels Project, she seeks to reunite her former comrades before the world’s remaining foundations collapse.
Alongside them stands Daibo, a disgraced heir of the Lux Order. Once destined to inherit humanity’s government, he instead witnessed his father’s death and the destruction of everything his family built. Guided by fragmented memories of a forgotten paradise, Daibo dreams of reconciling Ultfinites and Armigers and ending the conflict that has defined his entire life.
Together, the three journey across the fractured layers of Itea, uncovering a history older than recorded civilization while deciding whether the Nexus should be restored, destroyed, or allowed to complete its original purpose.
Devil Hunters / Kuro Mao
Lin and Yu Mei
Heir of Longwang and Kuro Mao
Lin and Yu Mei are descendants of forbidden unions dating back to the Primaldian Age, inheritors of a bloodline rejected by nearly every major power in existence. Born into a family torn between loyalty, tradition, and persecution, the twins were ultimately separated by tragedy. Their paths diverged, but their search for the truth never ended.
Yu Mei chose to disappear into Itea’s criminal underworld, becoming entangled with detectives and yakuza investigating a string of murders connected to a mysterious energized drug spreading throughout the megafloat.
Lin instead became a Devil Hunter, seeking answers hidden within the ruins of the old world. His search eventually leads him toward Autochronos, a legendary blade capable of manipulating time itself and connected to a forgotten signal that may be influencing both the Vessels and the Nexus.
Viewed as heretics by the remnants of the old order and anomalies by the powers that replaced it, the twins struggle to reclaim their family’s legacy while uncovering the true purpose behind their bloodline.
Abyssal Empire
Following the disappearance of the Lux Order, the Abyssal Empire emerged as the dominant authority overseeing much of Itea. Possessing vast stores of knowledge from humanity’s golden age, they maintain control over critical systems tied to Malkuth and the remnants of the old world.
Ritsueto and Isobel
The Omen Prince and Bladed Papillion
Among the many powers that emerged from the ashes of the Lux Order, none are more feared than the Abyssal Empire and its enigmatic prince, Ritsueto. He devoted his life to preserving what he believes is the natural course of existence. As prince of the Abyssal Empire, he seeks to eradicate the Obelisk Pillar and the bloodline that created it, viewing Elpis and his lineage as symbols of humanity’s greatest sin: the refusal to accept their place within the world.
To Ritsueto, all life ultimately returns to the same destination. Individual desires, freedoms, and ambitions only prolong suffering and create division. He believes humanity’s attempts to separate itself from nature’s course are what led to the collapse of civilization. Through the unsealing of the Nexus, he seeks to reunite the fractured world into a single existence, sacrificing individual freedom in exchange for eternal harmony.
A flamboyant and theatrical figure, he treats life as a performance. Every movement is deliberate, every speech delivered like a grand proclamation before an audience. He laughs loudly, speaks dramatically, and turns even ordinary conversations into elaborate ceremonies. While Elpis struggles to feel emotion, Ritsueto experiences emotion intensely, yet possesses little sense of self beneath the roles he performs.
His sister Isobel walks a different path.
Known as the Bladed Papillion, Isobel is an exiled princess of the Abyssal Empire whose existence has always been tied to forces beyond her control. Born with powers linked to the Nexus through an artificial intelligence housed within her body, she spent much of her life isolated from the world she wished to belong to. The death of her mother during childbirth and her status as an anomaly within the Empire left her searching for something she could never quite find: a place where she was truly accepted.
Unlike her brother, Isobel does not seek to reshape the world according to an ideal. She seeks to understand where she belongs within it.
Though often remembered as mischievous, sarcastic, and deliberately irritating, much of her behavior serves as a mask. She teases others relentlessly, provokes reactions whenever she can, and rarely misses an opportunity to leave an impression. Yet beneath her playful exterior lies someone deeply afraid of being forgotten. By ensuring people react to her, even negatively, she reassures herself that she exists within their lives.
As the conflict surrounding the Nexus escalates, Isobel searches for the truth behind the signal connected to her existence, hoping to discover whether she was created to guide humanity’s future, or merely witness its end.
Revolt Tyrants
The Revolt Tyrants are an alliance of Ultfinite resistance movements united by a common belief: their people were created for a purpose that has been deliberately hidden from them. Determined to uncover the origins of their species and complete the evolution denied to them, they wage an endless insurgency against the powers governing Itea.
Brown and Shan
The Ecliptic Warlord and Celestial Gloom
Born as test subjects in experiments involving Nephillim blood, Brown and Shan survived a system that treated them as disposable tools. The horrors they endured forged an unbreakable bond between them and inspired them to create a new family among the oppressed.
Now serving as two of the Revolt Tyrants’ most feared mercenaries, they employ guerrilla warfare and rebellion to challenge the world’s ruling powers. Yet beneath their revolution lies a deeper question: whether true freedom can exist without repeating the same cycles of control that created them.
Having learned fragments of the truth behind Ultfinite creation, they believe humanity’s future has already been decided by forces older than the Lux Order itself. Their rebellion seeks not merely freedom, but the destruction of the system that predetermined their existence.
Legion Realm
Lurking beyond the boundaries of conventional warfare is Legion Realm. Unlike every other faction, they have embraced the Tidal Cataclysm. Led by a mysterious exiled figure, Legion Realm has learned to bond with the virus itself, transforming its followers into techno-organic hybrids capable of wielding the mutative power of the Cataclysm. Their armies march alongside nuclear bio-organic war machines and living weapons forged from corrupted flesh and machine.
To outsiders, they are monsters. To themselves, they are liberators. Legion Realm believes existence is trapped within an endless cycle of suffering. Through selective survival and forced ascension, they seek to determine who is worthy of entering the next age of reality while converting or destroying all who oppose them.
As their influence spreads across the world, many begin to fear that the Cataclysm was never a disaster at all, but the first stage of something far greater.
