Antares

June 6, 2026 /Posted byAlex Chadwell / 36 / 0

Antares, The Carnal Stinger, is an abnormally mutated Ultfinite who serves as a highly prominent member of Nimbus’ Legion Realm. He’s knowledgeable about Nimbus’ past in the Lux Order and has been a close follower since his betrayal, currently serving as a wild serial killer. Central to Antares is his desire to abide by his genes as an Ultfinite and become the best hunter he can, abiding closely to his animalistic biology. He’s responsible for inciting conflict between factions of heroes and even those amongst him due to his unapologetic and ravenous nature. His most notable rivalry being with Orion, who he despises and seeks to put an end to. As long as he serves within Legion Realm, Antares’ name is a scar to those who cross paths with him.

– Personality –

Antares is incredibly ravenous and violent, thriving on others’ pain, whether physically or mentally. He possesses a never-ending, agonizing bloodlust that twists him from the inside, leading him to exert this stress through his fighting style, often without awareness of his own strength. He satisfies this urge through his numerous murders, following a pattern of making his kills last longer than necessary by testing the limits of others and constantly attempting to outdo the last. He plays with his victims like puppets. He rarely hesitates when encountering what he views as prey, charging headfirst. He keeps a list of those who interest him, those he deems to hold the most “treasure”, as he values making each murder a worthwhile achievement. On occasion, he also writes down the names of those who manage to wound his ego, such as Orion. However, if Antares is not amused or sees no value in his prey, he feels only disappointment and simply lets someone else have them.

Antares is unapologetically honest about himself, possessing a degrading sense of humor that drags others’ insecurities into the open, using provocation to catch them off guard. He unleashes his brutality without regard for collateral damage, his reputation inspiring dread rather than loyalty within the Legion Realm. He never hesitates to use any means necessary to dominate others. Yet none of this matters to him as long as he feels validated in simply “being himself” through serving figures like Nimbus. He sees himself and other Ultfinites as no different from animals driven by self-interest that merely pretend otherwise. He believes it is written into his genes to be a hunter, considering himself indebted to Nimbus for allowing him to fulfill his biological purpose.

– Abilities (Neo-Gen) –

Antares’ mutant body relies on three primary appendages: his armblade, giant claw, and elongated tail. His tail is a long, semi-autonomous limb supported by a secondary circulatory organ fused to his heart, allowing it to function independently without loss of pressure or precision. The tail ends in a stinger that injects a corrosive acid compound. Embedded within the stinger is a cannon capable of firing pressurized acid, while serrated inner jaws allow the stinger to grapple and restrain targets at close range. Throughout Antares’ body are sealed internal reservoirs storing various poisons and acids, each stabilized to prevent premature reactions. Through direct neural and chemical regulation, he can route these compounds to the stinger, allowing him to deploy or combine toxins as needed. When poisons are mixed, Antares triggers enzymatic amplification, a catalytic reaction that destabilizes the compounds and dramatically increases their corrosive and neurotoxic potency. When this acid contacts an enemy, it reacts violently with moisture and body heat, expanding across the target like a parasitic chemical mass. The compound actively responds to muscle tension and movement, meaning the more a victim struggles, the faster the acid spreads and eats into flesh. Resistance accelerates venom circulation through increased blood flow, causing the toxin to propagate exponentially rather than linearly.

His other arm houses the armblade, which is an extreme mutation formed from crystallized bone and energized blood. It vibrates at high speeds by generating enough energy from his body’s nervous system and bio-electric pulses to vibrate and cut through stone and bodies. It can grow massively to increase both range and destructive potential. This growth is driven by his body sending a stress-inducing pulse across his spine, causing rapid bone overgrowth that extends his weapon with energy and hardens it like crystal. Upon reaching full size, the blade charges kinetic energy and releases it in the form of focused shockwaves capable of cutting through walls and armor. This is achieved by forcing the blade to vibrate at a resonant frequency that disrupts molecular cohesion, allowing it to bypass conventional armoring rather than brute-force through it. The armblade is most commonly used as an execution tool, capable of clean decapitation or full-body dismantling. As part of his manic tendencies, Antares is capable of detaching this arm entirely and hurling it like a boomerang. The arm remains neurologically active while airborne, its vibration field transferring residual resonance back through Antares’ nervous system and into his remaining claw. During this state, his claw strikes become faster and more destructive, cutting into targets through sustained vibrational shearing even without direct blade contact.

His giant claw shields his body with layered armor plating, reinforcing his shell through dense, mineralized growths. With this claw, he can pin, crush, or cleave through prey, possessing enough strength to fracture bone with ease. When pinning enemies, the claw applies uneven pressure designed to cause progressive internal damage rather than immediate death. Simultaneously, micro-needles within the claw extract blood directly from the victim. These stolen nutrients—primarily blood—are rerouted into Antares’ internal systems, where they are metabolized and mixed with his stored toxins to enhance venom production. By altering the chemical balance of the extracted blood, Antares can either suppress clotting to prolong bleeding or accelerate coagulation to induce dangerous internal pressure after a wound is inflicted. This manipulation causes organs to swell or rupture under stress rather than heal naturally. Embedded within the claw is a concealed gun barrel, allowing Antares to fire high-velocity projectiles at close or mid-range, often used to catch prey off guard while they are restrained.

Antares is precise in his killing methods, consuming prey alive by first biting into the head to disable the nervous system, followed by the thorax to immobilize the body completely. This method ensures maximum control over the victim while minimizing resistance. He is also capable of camouflaging himself within his environment by manipulating surface moisture and nearby water sources, altering light refraction across his body to blend seamlessly into wet or humid surroundings. However, prolonged exposure to water interferes with the hardening process of his armored plating, temporarily weakening his shell due to chemical leaching and reduced mineral cohesion.

– Trivia –

Among the Legion Realm, Antares has one of the highest friendly-fire counts due to his inability to distinguish allies from prey during periods of extreme bloodlust.

Antares is one of the few members of the Legion Realm whom Nimbus rarely attempts to manipulate. Nimbus instead encourages Antares’ behavior because it naturally creates instability.

Early drafts portrayed Antares as a disciplined assassin who operated with military precision. This concept was abandoned in favor of making him a far more impulsive and animalistic serial killer.

Antares was originally intended to use spider-inspired mutations before his design shifted toward a scorpion motif.

An early version of Antares possessed pheromone-based abilities that allowed him to manipulate emotions. This concept was later removed because it overlapped too heavily with other characters.

The armblade was initially designed as a detachable spear instead of a biological mutation. Early drafts depicted Antares as a silent character who rarely spoke. This was later changed to give him a provocative and degrading sense of humor.

Antares was originally envisioned as a lone wanderer unrelated to the Legion Realm before being rewritten as one of Nimbus’ longest-serving followers. His camouflage ability was originally much stronger and allowed complete invisibility. It was later reduced to environmental blending to preserve counterplay.

A scrapped version of Antares consumed memories alongside flesh, allowing him to inherit knowledge from his victims.

Early concepts portrayed Antares as an ally to Ritsueto and rival to Elpis. The rivalry was eventually transferred to Orion because their philosophies contrasted more naturally.

At one point Antares lacked his giant claw entirely and instead possessed two armblades. The claw was added to make his silhouette more recognizable.
