Ultfinites

Ultfinites, labeled the “Children of Unity,” are a race of mutants prominent throughout the events of BioMassCore and serve as the parallel counterpart to ULTIMATE’s Nephillim. Whether born naturally as hybrids or created through exposure to mutagenic organisms and radioactive substances, Ultfinites possess extraordinary physical abilities and unstable biology that blurs the boundary between species, machine, and the Nexus itself. Rather than representing a single race, Ultfinites are connected by one defining trait: they are beings formed through the fusion of incompatible forms of life.

Their mutations vary dramatically. Some develop animalistic features such as horns, tails, scales, wings, or additional limbs. Others experience accelerated growth, enhanced musculature, abnormal skeletal structures, or the ability to manipulate specialized biological organs. No two Ultfinites mutate identically, as each body adapts differently to the same underlying phenomenon. The earliest Ultfinites were immense, almost mythological beings whose towering forms inspired legends comparable to the biblical Nephilim. Many of these primordial mutants emerged during the Tidal Cataclysm, when the Nexus’ reactor flooded reality with unstable energy, producing colossal organisms capable of reshaping entire battlefields.

– Biology –

Every Ultfinite possesses a pseudo-crystalline biological medium known as Ichor, a substance originating from the Naught Forge. Rather than functioning as ordinary blood, Ichor stores energy, repairs damaged tissue, and allows the body to sustain mutations that would otherwise be biologically impossible. At the center of their biology is a pseudo-crystalline organ formed when Ichor crystallizes around the nervous system. Known as the Amberius, this organ functions as a biological reactor that regulates mutation, distributes energy throughout the body, and amplifies neural activity beyond ordinary human limits.

Energy distributed by the Amberius causes Ichor to crystallize along muscle fibers and nerve pathways, forming biological structures unique to each Ultfinite. These crystalline growths may become animalistic limbs, natural weapons, sensory organs, or localized enhancements such as Brown’s lightning eye. An Ultfinite’s cells are interwoven with microscopic bio-nanites suspended within Ichor. These nanites absorb energy from the Amberius and continuously reconstruct living tissue, allowing the body to grow new organs, alter skeletal structure, regenerate damage, and support mutations that ordinary biology could never sustain. Old nanites eventually decay before being replaced by newly generated ones. Their immune systems constantly rewrite themselves using Ichor, allowing them to rapidly adapt to pathogens, toxins, radiation, and foreign organisms. Aging in Ultfinites is dramatically slowed because Ichor continuously replaces damaged tissue. Most Ultfinites do not die from old age, but from catastrophic injury, Core failure, or mutation collapse.

Because the Amberius directly interfaces with the nervous system, many Ultfinites develop extrasensory abilities alongside their physical mutations. These manifestations differ greatly between individuals, ranging from heightened intuition and empathic perception to telepathy, psychokinesis, spatial awareness, memory transference, or the ability to perceive fluctuations within the Nexus itself. Like physical mutations, these psychic phenomena vary unpredictably depending on the individual’s biology. Because Ichor partially exists outside conventional space through the Naught Forge, an Ultfinite’s nervous system never exists entirely within physical reality. Thoughts, emotions, and neural activity resonate through the Nexus, allowing the body to unconsciously reshape itself and, in some individuals, manifest psychic phenomena.

Across an Ultfinite’s body are vital points of their biology linked to the Amberius. Every Ultfinite carries dormant genetic echoes inherited from previous generations that have already returned to the Nexus. When an Ultfinite dies, its Ichor crystallizes before dissolving into microscopic crystalline spores. Carried through the world’s leyline network, these spores return their accumulated biomass, memories, and energy to the BioMassCore.

The Nexus responds by emitting a biological resonance known as the Flow-Wave, a continuous signal shared by every living Ultfinite. As Ichor circulates throughout the body, it synchronizes with this resonance, regulating mutation, distributing energy through the Amberius, and subconsciously linking Ultfinites to one another through the world’s leyline network. The Tidal Cataclysm exists not only as a biological pathogen, but as a memetic code embedded within the Nexus itself. Every Ultfinite is born with a faint connection to it, most commonly through a research base tied to researching the Tidal Cataclysm, where victims were dissected to observe biological development, frozen within corroded leylines, or exposed to swarms of infested Cataclysm parasites. Most never perceive it. Others describe distant whispers, intrusive thoughts, recurring dreams, or memories that do not belong to them. Those who lose control gradually synchronize with the corruption, allowing it to reshape both body and mind. Before their mutations fully develop, many Ultfinites experience recurring dreams, voices, or visions generated by their latent connection to the Tidal Cataclysm. Most dismiss these experiences as imagination until their Amberius matures.

Ultfinites are known as the “Children of Unity” because every one of them is born through the biological union of incompatible forms of life. Whether human, animal, machine, or Nexus-derived matter, their existence represents life forced into a single body. While many view them as symbols of evolution, others see them as living proof that unity achieved through forced fusion inevitably comes at a cost. Every Ultfinite genome is inherently mosaic, containing dormant genetic sequences from multiple ancestral organisms. These inactive genes may remain suppressed for generations before becoming expressed through mutation or environmental stress.

– Neo-Gens –

Neo-Gens are biological abilities unique to every Ultfinite, and are the result of the interaction between the Amberius, Ichor, and the individual’s nervous system. While every Ultfinite possesses an Amberius, no two Neo-Gens develop identically. Each manifests as a biological adaptation shaped by the user’s genetics, environment, experiences, and psychological development. Neo-Gens often emerge through specialized organs or mutated body structures. Some Ultfinites develop natural weapons, enhanced sensory organs, or animalistic limbs, while others evolve highly specialized biological functions. In many cases, a Neo-Gen develops around a part of the body that has experienced significant trauma or has become central to the individual’s way of life. For example, Coraline’s Stitchwork manifested through her tongue after it was severed, causing her body to compensate by transforming it into a specialized biological organ.

Because the Amberius develops alongside the brain, a Neo-Gen reflects the individual’s personality and way of thinking as much as their biology. Two Ultfinites may manipulate the same phenomenon, such as electricity or ice, yet their abilities will never manifest in exactly the same way. Every Neo-Gen is effectively a biological interpretation of its user’s identity. During fetal development, the Amberius begins as a microscopic crystalline organ known as a Xenoseed. As the nervous system matures, the Xenoseed grows alongside it, eventually becoming the biological Core responsible for regulating Ichor and supporting the development of the Neo-Gen. The ability itself often remains dormant until adolescence or until triggered by extreme stress, environmental exposure, or physical trauma.

In the Nexus’ eruption, pieces of a crystal spread Xenoseeds, which developed the nanite-like cells of Ichor within Ultfinites. People ingested pieces of Xenoseeds, allowing the Ichor to settle within their bodies. Xenoseeds are said to be alike to the moth-like parasite swarms of the Tidal Cataclysym, which affects an individual’s immune abilities. Exacosm is a bodily factor within Ultfinites found within their blood, tied to how they use their neo-gens and can be used as DNA samples.

Not all Neo-Gens awaken naturally. They may also develop through hybridization, radiation exposure, mutagenic organisms, bioengineering, cybernetic reconstruction, or other artificial alterations. Regardless of their origin, every Neo-Gen follows the same biological principle: the Amberius continuously restructures living tissue using Ichor, allowing the body to create specialized organs capable of producing phenomena impossible for ordinary biology. Repeated use strengthens the biological pathways supporting a Neo-Gen, allowing the ability to evolve into increasingly specialized forms over time. However, excessive use places enormous strain on the Amberius. When pushed beyond its limits, Ichor reserves become depleted, causing localized crystallization, tissue degradation, loss of bodily function, or permanent damage to the affected organ.

Before a Neo-Gen fully manifests, many Ultfinites exhibit subtle neurological abnormalities. These may include heightened intuition, empathic perception, unexplained sensory awareness, recurring dreams, or involuntary telepathic phenomena caused by the Amberius resonating with the Nexus. These effects are often dismissed as coincidence until the Neo-Gen fully awakens.

– Neo-Overdrive –

Under extreme physical or emotional stress, an Ultfinite’s Amberius may temporarily exceed its normal biological capacity, entering a state known as Neo-Overdrive. During Neo-Overdrive, the Amberius dramatically increases the circulation of Ichor throughout the body, amplifying regeneration, neural processing, and Neo-Gen output beyond normal limits. Existing abilities become significantly stronger, while new biological adaptations may temporarily emerge as the body rapidly restructures itself to survive the situation.

Although immensely powerful, Neo-Overdrive is highly unstable. Prolonged activation can permanently crystallize tissue, damage the Amberius, destabilize mutations, or accelerate the onset of mutation-related disorders. For this reason, most Ultfinites are incapable of maintaining the state for long without suffering lasting biological consequences.

– Trivia –

Neo in Neo-Gen refers to “new” or “revived”, which can be contextualized with a new generation or a revived generation such as the Primaldian Age’s Vessels being reincarnated. While “Gen” refers to generating power, ultimately making Neo-Gen translate to “newly generated power” But can also refer to Ultfinites being a new generation of life as it’s second translation.

Internia and Externia’s positions were formerly to have Internia as Soul and Externia as body. Internia was formerly Externia, Physicia was formerly Externia, and Externia was formerly Internia. This was changed to fit the elements’ radiation range.

Aelophis was an original energy source for Ultfinites, much akin to mana. It was originally named omni-energy, aelo-energy or quantum energy in BioMassCore’s early reworking. And Ultfinites were originally named Espers.
